- Please remember that EACH recommendation needs an ADDRESSED envelope with a STAMP and needs to be turned into each teacher.
Attend the high school night and the open houses of the schools you and your child would like to find more about. If you would like information about a specific high school you should look directly at their website for more detailed information.
It is highly recommended that you apply to more than one school, especially if entrance to your first choice school is highly competitive (Loyola, La Salle, Mayfield, St. Francis).
You can get application packets either directly from the school itself or online.
The application packets that you receive from the high schools will contain at least the following:
1) An application of admission. 2) Recommendation Forms 3) Transcript Release. Sometimes schools will also include an application for Financial Aid.

- Applications: You and your child will fill out the application and mail it to the high school with the application fee. Once the high school receives that application and fee your child is automatically scheduled to take that school’s entrance exam. If your child is applying for admission at more than one school they only need to take the entrance exam once but they should take the exam at their first choice school. Some schools only will award scholarships if the HSPT is taken at their school. There are two exams they may have to take, the HSPT and the ISEE. Please verify what entrance exam the high schools need and that they are registered. MOST schools require the HSPT but some require the ISEE. For the ISEE they need to be registered at least 3 weeks in advance at www.iseetest.org
- Recommendations: Most schools require two - three recommendations; Language Arts, math, and the principal. These should be brought filled out with your child’s and the school’s information already to the correct teacher. Each recommendation will also have to have a self-addressed envelope with postage paper clipped to it. We will then fill them out and send them to the directly to the high schools. Some schools ask for a Pastor’s recommendation. These recommendations should be brought directly to the parish office. I highly recommend that students who need Fr. Roberto’s recommendation write him a polite letter which tells Fr. Roberto about themselves, their interests, their goals, and their extracurricular activities. They should close their letter by thanking Fr. Roberto for his time. Please submit these forms as soon as you receive them so we have time to fill them out and mail them within the appropriate deadlines.
- Transcript Release: Please fill out and sign this form and either turn in directly to the office. We cannot send your child’s transcript or report card without this form. We need a release form for EACH school to which your child is applying.
